In Loving Memory of Bro. Anselmo "Cara" Bueno
The 66th Brother in the State of Indiana
Sunrise: 1979 | Sunset: 2006
Anselmo “Cara” Bueno was an embodiment of a Sigma Lambda Beta man from the Elite State of Indiana. From East Chicago Indiana, he attended St. Lawrence Seminary in Mt. Calvary, Wisconsin. Upon graduation, he went on to Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. As a freshman, Cara, led his line of brothers (Captain) through the struggles of joining our beloved organization. Memo, as he was lovingly called, along with four other men, joined SLB under the Infamous Alpha Alpha (AA) Chapter.
As a brother of SLB, Cara, represented the principles of SLB, social, academic, and fraternal. Of the principles that represent the organization, brotherhood was at the root of his love. He earned the respect of all that knew him because of his authentic nature. He loved with a big heart, laughed hard, and genuinely respected and cared for others.
Upon graduation, he saw it fit to continue his mission to be a Beta man for life. He continued to live the principles of the organization in all aspects of life. Once a year, it was like Christmas in summer for Memo, The Indiana Players Classic. This event was special to him. It signified all things that SLB stood for, Latino professionals stretching our boundaries through a golf outing. Cara loved the comradery that the event created. Once a year where brothers would once again reunite, remember the past, and celebrate the future.
As we celebrate the life and legacy of Anselmo “Cara” Bueno, let us remember the mark that he left on the lives of so many.
Rest in Power, Brother Cara.
66th. Forever a LAMBDA Beta MAN.
